March Yoga Classes

Recently I got a chance to combine two of my loves, hanging upside down on the side of a building, with yoga!

In February I had a wonderful afternoon with photographer Lynne Spencer some of the lovely staff from Halfmoon yoga, demonstrating their sling in use. We got to shoot in the beautiful Yoga Space studio where I study Iyengar yoga with Louie Ettling, and Louie was there working with me on alignment and showing us some of the great asanas you can do using the sling.

Looking forward to a wonderful month of yoga and the first signs of spring.

My teaching schedule for March is as follows:


Monday evenings at Green Room Yoga:

The session starts Monday March 7th- May 1st

2645 East Hastings Street

These classes are both energizing and calming. I incorporating alignment principles from my studies of Iyengar Yoga into sun salutations, flowing sequences of standing poses, core strengthening, seated and reclining poses. As the students progress, I introduce the challenge and playfulness of arm balances and inversions. At Green Room Yoga the small class size and progressive nature of a pre-registered class allows for a safe and supportive environment for deepening ones practice.

5:45-7:15pm Hatha (class on Easter Monday)

*suitable for students newer to yoga, and those looking to refine their understanding of the poses

7:30-9:00pm Energized Flow (no class on Easter Monday)

*This class in geared towards yoga students with some experience who would like to work on their strength, flexibility and alignment.

East Side Yoga:

New Class: Iyengar Level 1 (last class March 31st)

Wednesday’s from 10-11:15am

Developed by B.K.S. Iyengar of Pune, India, Iyengar yoga is known for its attention to correct physical alignment in all postures, leading to the goal of meditation in action. Through the use of props such as straps, blocks, blankets, and bolsters, this method allows students to find better mobility and steadiness in their practice.

Iyengar yoga emphasizes the importance of inverted poses and works with preparations for each student at their appropriate levels. The Level 1 Iyengar class offered at East Side yoga is a good introduction for students new to yoga, new to Iyengar yoga, and those wanting to deepen their understanding of the poses, gain strength, agility and improved focus.

Thursday’s from 6-7pm: Hatha Yoga

$12 to drop-in for an hour

$15 to drop-in for an hour and 15 minutes

Sunday’s at Flow Yoga:

202 Burrard Street

12:15-1:30pm Foundation Flow….send your mom’s, your boyfriends, and anyone else curious but new. Come for the yoga…enjoy the sauna, showers, tea lounge and other great facilities.
