Fall performances with Aeriosa

In September 2021 I had the opportunity to perform in Tofino suspended in the trees for “Habitats & Camouflage” and be a part of a new creation at the Scotiabank Dance Centre in downtown Vancouver called “Home/Domicile” to celebrate the 20th anniversary of both that building and our dance company. What a wonderful opportunity to participate in live art again. I am so grateful to Julia Taffe, the Artistic Director of Aeriosa for bringing together a fantastic group of artists and collaborators, especially after being apart for so long.

2020 Fall Yoga and Pilates Classes Online

This fall I’ll be teaching two drop-in Iyengar Yoga classes per week, and have added a new Pilates inspired class as well, Thursday mornings at 10am starting October 1st. I’m really excited to teach this new class, it’s great to keep moving everyday, and keep exploring new ways of finding integration in our bodies.

Take a look at the schedule below. Sign up for classes at least an hour before it starts to get the zoom link. You can register here at the Ocean and Crow website.  If you can’t make it to the live class, you can register for “anytime access” and receive a recording of the class to do in your own time.

Aligning Body, Mind and Breath: Iyengar Yoga
Saturday’s 10-11:15am

Want a great start to your weekend? Join Meghan Goodman, certified Iyengar yoga instructor, for an alignment based practice that will help you feel more centered and energized. The teaching will focus on building stable and healthy foundations. We will work on improving concentration and developing inner awareness so that the postures become a form of ‘meditation in action’, integrating the body, mind and breath. We will explore ways to find our optimal flow of energy, to support when needed, and to move deeper into the postures safely. Students who are beginners, pregnant or are working with injuries are welcome to join us, just please make sure to get your care provider’s approval first.

Unwind: Calming Iyengar Yoga
Wednesday’s 7:45-9pm

Join Iyengar yoga teacher Meghan this fall for a practice that will help you wind down from your day. A combination of active and restorative postures will be sequenced to help the student release tension and stress from their day, improve circulation, and prepare the body and mind for a restful night’s sleep. Pranayama breath work and meditation appropriate for the evening will be introduced, as we move towards finding peaceful stillness in both the body and the mind. This class is suitable for students of all levels, as well as those who are pregnant or working with injuries. Please make sure to get your care provider’s approval first if recovering from any serious injury or if you are pregnant.

***NEW CLASS***

Core Connect: Pilates and Yoga
Thursday’s 10-11am (starting October 1st)

Join Meghan Goodman for an hour of Pilates and yoga inspired movements to help you connect with your core, stabilize your pelvis, and find more ease and mobility in your limbs. Drawing from a rich history of movement training in dance, Pilates, and various styles of yoga, Meghan will lead you through a fun and challenging class to get you moving, breathing and feeling good. Beginners and experienced students both welcome, please consult a doctor and check in with Meghan before class if you have any injuries.

Meghan Goodman is an Iyengar yoga instructor, professional dance artist, Pilates instructor and a mother of two young boys. Meghan began practicing yoga in 1998 and teaching in 2006. Meghan discovered the Iyengar yoga practice in 2008, and with the guidance of senior teacher Louie Ettling, Meghan completed the Intro 2 teaching certification in 2013, and the Intermediate Junior 1 certification in 2017. After experiencing the many changes in the body after having two children, Meghan was curious to learn more about core connectivity, so she delved deeper into her curiosity of Pilates, and completed a Pilates Mat teacher training program with Darcy McMurray in February 2020. She is excited to be sharing her love of intelligent movement in all of these forms with the wonderful students at Ocean and Crow.

Hello yoga students and friends,

I hope that this email finds you well and settling into this strange new routine. I’m feeing very thankful for the sunshine these past few days and the support of my family.

Thanks to everyone who has checked out my classes on the Ocean and Crow Facebook live site, and those who have been able to offer donations to myself and the studio. It’s been great to connect with you in some way, and keep teaching. I have to admit its strange to teach in a room alone, and I miss the interactive aspects of the work. On that note….

As of next Wednesday night, my online classes will be moving over to Zoom. I’m hoping it will help me connect with you even more, and I’ll be able to check in at the beginning, offer suggestions as we practice together, and personalize it more. I’m new to teaching on this platform, and I know some of you might be new to using it, so I’d like to offer the first class as a complimentary sample, so that we can both adjust to it together.

The link to sign up for the complimentary class on Wednesday April 15th is:    https://oceanandcrow.pike13.com/group_classes/236029

After that, my Saturday morning 10am class and Wednesday night 7:45pm class will be on Zoom regularly, and you can sign up on the Ocean and Crow website as you would normally. We ask that you sign in at least an hour before the class starts so that you can receive the link in time. I’ll be at the meeting about 15 minutes early to check in with you, and make sure we can all hear and see each other.

There are a few options for how to pay for the classes:

1. Use your interrupted Ocean and Crow March-April pass
2. Purchase 4 weeks for $45+tax until April 30th ($75+tax after): https://oceanandcrow.pike13.com/pack_products/651408
3. Purchase 6 classes in 6 weeks: https://oceanandcrow.pike13.com/pack_products/652745
4. Drop in for $15 (option will come up when you enroll for the class you want to take).
5. Use ClassPass

Please note that we also have financial assistance options for pretty much everything we do, so if you are in financial need, email oceanandcrow@gmail.com and we’ll see what we can do for you.

You can also do the classes after the fact. Simply enroll for the class and email Julie at oceanandcrow@gmail.com  to request a recording. You’ll get it after the fact with about 24 hours to use it.

Simply enroll online for the class you want to take and the system will use your pass if you have one or give you options to purchase if you don’t: https://oceanandcrow.pike13.com/schedule#

Please let me know if you have any questions, or just want to say hi and check in.

Thank you so much for your ongoing commitment. I hope to “see” you sometime soon.

If you haven’t checked it out, my last Facebook live class will be this Saturday morning at 10am.
Follow the link for “Live” once you click on this link to access the classes. https://www.facebook.com/oceanandcrowyoga/

All the best,
Meghan
