Winter courses and workshops 2015

Greetings from Vietnam, where my husband and I are celebrating our honeymoon with adventures on planes, trains, boats and buses as we traverse the country from North to South. Soon we are off to Cambodia and then Thailand, before we head back to Vancouver for the new year.

I am excited to be offering a wide range of Iyengar yoga classes and workshops in the winter of 2015. Monday evenings at Green Room Yoga:

7:30-9pm Iyengar Yoga
The new session runs from Monday January 5 – Sunday March 1 if you register by Sunday December 21st the cost is:
•$105 for 8 classes for 8 weeks. ($115 after this date)
•$170 for 16 classes in 8 weeks. ($185 after)
•$80 for 5 classes in 8 weeks. ($87 after)
•$215 for unlimited classes in 8 weeks, come to any class, at any time! ($245 after)
•Early AM yoga is $95 for 8 classes in 8 weeks, or $14 drop in.
All prices include GST.

At Green Room Yoga the small class size and progressive nature of a pre-registered class allows for a safe and supportive environment for deepening ones practice. This class in geared towards yoga students with some experience who would like to work on their strength, flexibility, inversions and alignment.This is a pre-register classes with some room for drop-ins, it is $14 to drop in your first time.

Suitable for those new to yoga, and/or new to Iyengar Yoga. Even practiced yogis will find a Level 1 class will help them discover fundamental principles that will refine and deepen their practice. The cost is $216 to pre-register for the 13 weeks of classes. The class size is small so you get lots of attention, plus this studio is well stocked with all of the props that make an Iyengar practice so unique, safe and rich in learning.

An Iyengar Yoga Progessive with Meghan Goodman (January)

Looking to start up or refine your yoga practice in the new year? Join Iyengar Yoga teacher Meghan Goodman for a progressive series of classes on Sunday afternoons from January 11-February 1st. From the Ground Up is a month long course designed to create a strong foundation for beginner students while offering opportunities for those with a regular practice to deepen their understanding of the poses and how they work best in our own bodies.

Sundays, 2:00-4:00pm, January 11, 18, 25 and February 1, 2015.

DEADLINE TO REGISTER IS JANUARY 4TH 2014

Week 1: Feet, Ankles, Knees, and Legs

Focus on the feet, ankles, knees and legs: Learn how correct actions and alignment in the standing poses can build energy, stamina, strength and confidence.

Week 2: Hips, Abdomen, and Lower Back

Focus on the hips, abdomen, and lower back: Learn how to safely open the hips and strengthen the abdomen, to keep your lower back healthy in practice and in life.

Week 3: Upper Back and Shoulders

Focus on the upper back and shoulders: Learn how to use the arms and legs to open your chest, and how to strengthen and open the shoulders to prepare the body for inversions.

Week 4: Inversions

Learn safe inversion practices for your own level of experience. Through preparations and the use of props, students will learn how to support their body and find optimal alignment in order to receive the many benefits turning upside down.

An Introduction to Yoga in the Ropes

Join Iyengar Yoga instructors Siobhan Sloane-Seale & Meghan Goodman for an afternoon workshop on Saturday February 21st from 2-4:30pm at Yoga on 7th

This 2.5 hour workshop will teach you how to use the ropes and sling for basic poses such as chest opening, Urdhva Hastasana, standing poses, and also for more complex poses like inversions such as Adho Mukha Vrksasana (handstand preparation) and Sirsasana (headstand in the sling). The ropes teach your body the correct physical actions and therefore help you achieve the most benefits from each pose. There will be time to ask questions during and after the workshop.

Meghan and Siobhan are both yoga instructors and professional dance artists.  Between them they have 32 years of yoga practice and 12 years of teaching experience.  They completed their Iyengar yoga certification with well over 1300 hours of training each.
